TROUBLESHOOTING NOTES:

No Audio from the WinTV:
Most audio mixers are muted by default in Windows XP. Click start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Volume control. Be sure that there is a separate LINE IN balance here, which is not muted, and has the volume level turned up.

If there is no LINE IN balance, you can add one by clicking options/properties, and putting a checkmark next to LINE IN.

In the WinTV program, click the AUD button for the audio configuration, and set the mixer to LINE IN, and be sure that the mixer level is turned up.

The external audio wire must be connected from the WinTV line out to the Line input of the soundcard.

The new 'De-Interlacer' software requires a VGA card that correctly supports video overlay mode.

'Failed to create TV Window, another application may be using the driver' error; 'Missing HCWCHAN.DLL' error, and missing 'HCWBTxxx.sys' error:
This indicates a driver installation problem. Try reinstalling the latest WinTV driver. You may need to follow the 'If you are having problems' instructions to first uninstall, and reload using the latest updates.

I am using the new WinTV2000 application with the 'de-interlacer' feature, and I am missing the remote applet that was once available to the right of the WinTV Window:
The video capture features are no longer available within this version of WinTV2000, however, you may achieve .AVI captures by using the provided AMCAP application which is installed with the WinTV driver installation.

IR Remote error: 'The Procedure Entry Point SUnMapLS could not be located in the dynamic link library Kernal32.dll':
Run the HCWCLEAR utility from your WinTV CD rom, choosing 'total removal' and put a checkmark in the box for 'Search all .INF files for conflicting Bt8xx hardware' Click OK. Reload the latest WinTV Driver, Application, and IR32 software. If this does not correct the issue, download and install the WinTV VFW drivers.

Controlling the audio source with Windows Movie Maker:
If you open Windows Movie Maker, and do not hear audio, browse your WinTV CD rom, and within the MISC/UTILITY folder there is a utility called 'Audioselect'. Run this program, which will allow you to select the audio source(Line In). When the audioselect program is initialized, it will place an icon on the system tray (next to the clock). Click on the 'WinTV audio select' icon on the tray, which will open the dialogue. Here is where you will choose the source(ie. Line in).
