If asked to specify the location of the Windows Server 2003 CD-ROM, click Browse and locate the path to the Gigabit Ethernet drivers that was previously specified. When the software installation is complete, click Finish to close the wizard and complete the software installation. If having both OS X and Windows 10 support is important, consider getting a USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. I have personnaly used this exact adapter on an iMac, a MacBook Pro, a Mac Mini (Dual Boot w/ Win 7) and a Surface Pro 3. I will be running web meetings and if my laptop shifts or I bump the cable, the network disconnects, killing my meeting. It's really frustrating to have spent $2,000, then $30 for this connector and have unreliable Internet. I don't know if the flaw is with the adapter or laptop ports, or both. Just ridiculous to have this problem. I was better off with tech in the 1990s, then I plugged in network cable and it never failed.

I used to have one to get an HDMI connection (before it became standard in the MacBookPro), which I used 10 times before it quit. No buying these expensive gadgets from Apple anymore.

This doesn't work in El Capitan when using high speed 1000BaseT gigabit eth
In a Macbook pro Retina Late 2013 with OSX 10.11.4, it doesn't support gigabit ethernet. It works fine with 100baseTX but it doesn't work with 1000BaseT.

In addition to being Gigabit, it frees up both USB ports on my MacBook Air for more items to use the two USB ports on my MB Air. (I wonder as to why this feature isn't pointed out more often.) As long as my MB Air (or MB Pro that has a Thunderbolt port) continues to work great until I have to give it up for a MB (Air or Pro) that uses USB-C, this adapter will continue to give me ethernet and the wired speed and security that comes with it.

Just works
I've had this adapter for a few years now and it's never let me down. It works like it's supposed to and I've never had an issue.

POOR POOR POOR Product Listing - Does not fit 2016 MB Pro.
Waste of time, money, and effort. Called support and it took longer to set up the incident then to get an answer of how it fits into the MB. BY THE WAY the pic Waste of time, money, and effort. Called support and it took longer to set up the incident then to get an answer of how it fits into the MB. BY THE WAY the picture of the product only has one view and the end is hidden. Lets all spend time sending the product back to apple and this could of been fixed. Just stupid.

- Does this allow the user to take full advantage of thunderbolt's speed?
- Asked by Steven K from New York

Best Answer:
Thunderbolt speeds are up to 10 Gigabits per second, whereas Gigabit Ethernet is 1 Gigabit per secon Thunderbolt speeds are up to 10 Gigabits per second, whereas Gigabit Ethernet is 1 Gigabit per second. Therefore, this adapter doesn't take full advantage of Thunderbolt's speed, but it is definitely faster than the Apple USB to Ethernet Adapter, because not only is USB rated at only up to 480 Megabits per second (under half 1 Gigabit), but it is also a 10/100 adapter instead of this 10/100/1000 adapter.
If you do not have a built-in Gigabit ethernet port on your Mac, such as the newer MacBook Air's and the 15' MacBook Pro with Retina Display, and you wish to have ethernet connection, I would highly recommend this product over other ethernet adapters because in most cases it will have better transfer speeds because of the use of Thunderbolt.- Answered by Jeffrey Y from Westmont
