I have a Radeon Ati HD 4870 1Gb i need drivers for mac 10.7.5. Mac4ever (french) received word from ATI that while the Radeon HD 4870 X2 will not be coming for the Mac, ATI has confirmed that both the Radeon HD 4870 and Radeon HD 4850 will be coming for the Mac 'soon'. 2009-3-7  read the other topics or search first kids! There are no drivers out currently for the 48xx series, this is because apple does not use any of those products yet, however, ATI put out a press release recently said that they will be producing mac versions of these cards so when THOSE cards come out we'll be able to get drivers for our 48xx series because they're a dirivitive of the original ones.

I just got my ATI Radeon 4870 a few days ago for my Mac Pro '06. It works great. I am running 2 24' Dell monitors, one through DVI and one through a the minidisplay port with the mini to DVI converter I bought at Apple, and they run flawlessly. Check out this Bare Feats benchmark comparison of those cards (and more) done on the Mac Pro 2008 (3,1). It doesn't do comparisons in Windows 7, but at least you can get an idea of how it would perform in OS X using that particular Mac Pro. The Radeon HD 4870 Mac Edition was a graphics card by ATI, launched in January 2009. Built on the 55 nm process, and based on the RV770 graphics processor, in its RV770 XT Mac variant, the card supports DirectX 10.1. The RV770 graphics processor is an average sized chip with a die area of 256 mm² and 956 million transistors. It features 800 shading units, 40 texture mapping units and 16 ROPs. ATI has placed 512 MB GDDR5 memory on the card, which are connected using a 256-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 750 MHz, memory is running at 850 MHz.
Being a dual-slot card, the ATI Radeon HD 4870 Mac Edition draws power from 2x 6-pin power connectors, with power draw rated at 150 W maximum. Display outputs include: 1x DVI, 1x mini-DisplayPort. Radeon HD 4870 Mac Edition is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 interface. The card measures 250 mm in length, and features a dual-slot cooling solution.
